LAND DRAINING & DEWATERING SYSTEM

Contract Services – Dewatering Solutions by Al Khandaq

Al Khandaq has long been recognized as a leader in dewatering services. Through KTS, we offer end-to-end solutions — from design and supply to installation, commissioning, and maintenance — for a wide range of dewatering systems.

Specialized Support & Custom Fabrication

Our fully equipped workshops allow us to perform advanced testing, maintenance, and fabrication of custom equipment tailored to the unique demands of each project.

Engineered for Safe Construction

We design, build, and operate dewatering systems that support safe and efficient construction. Each solution is customized based on:

  • Soil type and permeability
  • Depth of excavation
  • Size and nature of the structure
  • Site access and location
  • Project timeline and construction schedule

To achieve dry and stable subsurface conditions, we deploy proven techniques such as:

  • Well-point systems
  • Deep-well systems
  • French trench systems
  • Horizontal dewatering
  • Electro-osmosis

Al Khandaq remains committed to delivering reliable, site-specific dewatering solutions that enable successful project execution.

Well Point Method

This method is especially effective for shallow excavations (less than 6 meters) in permeable soils such as sand or gravel.

Spacing Between Well Points

Soil Type Typical Spacing
Coarse Sand 1.5 – 2.0 meters
Medium Sand 1.2 – 1.5 meters
Fine Sand / Silt 1.0 – 1.2 meters

Types of Well Point Systems

Single-Sided Well Point System

Well points are installed on one side of the excavation. Suitable for narrow trenches or linear excavations.

Double-Sided Well Point System

Well points are installed on both sides of the excavation. Ideal for wider trenches or rectangular pits.

Multistage Well Point System

Multiple vertical levels of well points are installed in stages. Used for deep excavations exceeding 5–6 meters.

Deep Well Method

This method is effective for deeper excavations (typically 6 to 20 meters). It uses submersible pumps installed inside vertical wells to continuously remove groundwater.

Sumps and Trenches Method

A simple and cost-effective technique used to collect and remove groundwater from shallow excavations.

Best suited for impermeable or semi-permeable soils such as clay or silty sand.

Horizontal Dewatering Method

This method involves installing perforated pipes horizontally beneath the ground surface to rapidly lower the water table.

It is particularly effective in sandy or gravelly soils and for large surface areas such as roadbeds, basements, and tank foundations.

Electro-Osmosis Dewatering Method

This advanced technique uses electrical currents to move water through soils where traditional methods are ineffective.

It is particularly useful in deep excavations, tunneling, and challenging soil conditions.
